Becoming a Member

All Tenants and Leaseholders on the Estate aged 18 or over are eligible to become member of the Association. You can become member by paying lifetime membership fee of 10 pence. Members elect representatives to sit on the Committee.

Both Leaseholders and Tenants are represented on the Committee, but the tenants are in the majority. Only members of Hornsey Lane Estate Management Association are eligible to be nominated for election to the Committee. The Committee consists of not less than nine or more than fifteen members. The honorary Committee Officers shall be the Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and such others as may be appointed from time to time to assist them.

The duties of the Committee Members are:

• to ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document (The Management Agreement)
• to ensure the objectives as defined in its Rules or Constitution and Standing Orders are adhered to
• to declare any conflict of interest while carrying out the duties as a Committee Member
• to ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation
• to abide by the Equal Opportunities Policy of the Estate Management Board
• to ensure the financial stability of the organisation
• to protect and manage the properties on the estate
• to appoint and support the employees and monitor their performance
• to attend meetings and sub-committee meetings as appropriate
